As part of 'Drawing Mudras' personal exhibition by visual artist Sarah Lawton. FREE
Inspired by a Rabari embroidery made in Kutch, Gujarat, the exhibition will feature work from the Neesa Well Women’s group (Manchester), Jagonari Women's Group, Bondhon and Boundary Women’s Group (Tower Hamlets). The exhibition title “Drawing Mudras: a Practice of care,” brings together a group of artists including Sarah Lawton and women from the South Asian Diaspora, living in East London to share through an exploration of hand gestures and ‘craft of making’ how each woman cares for her families’ health and happiness. Artworks in the exhibition will include prints, drawings and embroideries. Craftworks will include wood-cut prints, Rabari embroidery and Bengali Muslin works on cloth and paper.
