Odissi Ensemble Spring Tour

What is the relation between the human and the divine? Gods who act like mortals, mortals who act like gods. Where is the line that separate gods from humans, good from bad, myth from reality, creation from destruction?

Kadam-Pulse presents the Odissi Ensemble in 'Gods and Mortals', an evening of powerful and moving dance and music. For the first time, UK-based musicians join the dancers to bring you classical dance with the richness and spontaneity that only live music can provide.

Elena Odissi DanceKatie Ryan DanceMaryam Shakiba and Kali Chandrasegaram make up the quartet of dancers with accompanying musiciansRanjana Ghatak (vocals), Parvati Rajamani (spoken rhythms), Gurdain Rayatt Tabla Player (percussion) and May Robertson Music (violin).

The stories of the gods are metaphors for humans with their everyday struggles and occasional triumphs. The specially arranged choreography of the Ensemble's presentation keeps the classical form updated for the twenty-first century.

In partnership with Kala Sangam.
